Abstract

This article examines the English adjective lazy from etymological and semantic points of view and compares it with its Georgian correlate. The results of the study show that lazy, which was first recorded in the English language in the 16th century, has Indo-European roots and is a polysemantic word, while its Georgian counterpart has a vague etymology and only one meaning, which can be found. Both the studied languages are rich in expressions, which contain the word under study.
