კვლევა ეფუძნება ლეგიტიმაციის კოდების თეორიას (Legitimation Code Theory – LCT), კერძოდ, სემანტიკური გრავიტაციისა და სემანტიკური სიმჭიდროვის კონცეფციებს. გაანალიზებულია, როგორ ახერხებენ მასწავლებლები აბსტრაქტული ცოდნის სტუდენტებისთვის გასაგებ ფორმად წარმოდგენას და თეორიის პრაქტიკულ მაგალითებთან დაკავშირებას.
